The Fellowship of Flint and Steel

Last Days of Nightstone
The Oath

In the last days of our stay in Nightstone, we lay to rest the victims of of the attack from the ,"Flying Castle", and the subsequent sacking of its remains by villainous  creatures. Not all has been accounted for and the atrocities overload the senses. I find an increasing anger in my prayers as I give benediction to each of the departed and then watch as they are entombed.  That anger grew to white hot rage when delivering my services to The Lady Velrosa Nandar, High Steward of Nightstone.

I will find the ones responsible, their names are going right into my Holy Book of Grudges!

Upon this, I will swear my oath that justice will be delivered those names!

Our Latest...

Welcome to Zephyros's Tower.  A Cloud Giant we ran into in a floating castle with a tower.  He floats and bounces, he doesn't lumber like the others.  And he's magical.  Whoa!  And he put me in a floating chair!

Then the vultures came.  They flew in bearing 9 thin, lightly armored figures.  I suspect cultists.  I mean, who else would be flying on mangy birds like these, huh?  They sought out the Giant to ask for his help in completing their mission.  They come offering pixie dust to the wizard for assistance bringing Yan-C-Bin to be brought back into the world.  My eyes go wide…Yan-C-Bin.  I've heard this name before, the Prince of Evil Air.  We launch into an attack.  They stood no chance.  Even with an invisible, something.  I managed to kill it and received their pixie dust pouch.  I might have to keep this for myself.

Possibly the funniest thing I've ever experience is listening to dwarves during their greeting roll off name, family name, greeting, honor and history to other dwarves.  I think I laughed myself blue in the face before I tried to convince Queen Dagnabbet's strike team into not attacking.  They were determined to fight with the silver dragon that carried them here, and Pavel stepped forth, with my aid as a convincing negotiator to stay their hands.   Safe to say the dwarves and the dragon, probably the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen turned and left without any fuss.  All this, and we're probably about a third of the way to our destination.

Pondering upon what we have stumbled into.
We are fucked.

Ok, so the main things to research are :

The Ordning, The Nightstone, and the Ostorien Artifact. At this point, I wonder if the Nightstone is a part of the Ostorien Artifact. I will let all know what I find.

Also, does anyone know of a recent event called, "The War of the Silvery Marches"? There was an act of betrayal that occurred here and it's end may have played out in the town of Nightstone.

In the Beginning

Greylic Daerr of the Clan Rockseeker is not sure how he came to watch over this disparate group of would be adventurers. He was a soldier in Mintar until the death of one to many friends turned him away from that life and to the priesthood. He took to wandering for a number of years before semi-settling around the sword mountains in the vicinity of Waterdeep for the past 20 years or so. It was there where he met these would be heroes listening to tales of his wanderings, and it was probably his tales, some true and some stretched a bit that fired the imaginations of their young minds. It was because of this Greylic saw that they would not be dissuaded from their path and undertook to teach them the basics of combat and what he knew it of wildlands to keep them from meeting a quick death. The group quickly outgrew Greylic’s teaching and when they were of age some of the group left to explore their own path’s, but they vowed to reunite after 5 years.

Generik the tall stout human lad who dreamed of knights and noble fighters. He was the first to set out on his own, heading for the Dalelands to see the Purple Dragons knights. He would along the way meet the legendary Dove Falconhand and end up joining the fabled Knights of Myth Drannor. He has spent the past few years riding the trails and roads protecting the innocent from those who would seek to take and own by force.

Nausus quiet and shy even among those he considers his friends was the next to leave headed for the wildlands where his tiefling nature wouldn’t draw stares, curses, stones thrown his way or worse. Among the creatures of the wild he would find his calling as a ranger protecting those who are unable to protect themselves, even as he is shunned by those same folk who curse him.

Pavel would follow Nasus to seek understanding of his gifts.

After most of his “wards” had taken off to explore the wider world. Greylic, who had been putting off traveling found he could no longer resist the itch and took a job to escort a wagon to Barthen’s Provisions in Phandalin. The job was offered by his cousin Gundren who left with a warrior Sildar Hallwinter a week in advance with the assurances that they would meet in Phandalin and that he had great news to impart when they next saw each other.

Of the companions left, Greylic took with him the halfling Thane Pennyforge, who hopes to surpass his rival and for the moment more famous cousin, Milo Needleknot, and Aramil the elven wizard that Greylic sometimes relied on for knowledge of matters arcane. Aramil has decided his apprenticeship with his master is at an end and he needs some practical field experience and has decided to accompany the two on their journey to Phandalin. Also accompanying them were a pair of sellswords as additional muscle.

The journey to Phandalin was not without event, along the way they would encounter a goblin ambush, which in turn led them to discovering Gundren and Sildar had been ambushed in the very same spot. They made quick work of the goblins and found that Gundren and Sildar had been drug away to the goblin lair of Cragmaw. They were able to rescue Sildar, who in his day was a famed member of the griffion cavalry of Waterdeep, and who is now a member of the Lord’s Alliance. He was accompanying Gundren to locate a missing agent of the Lord’s Alliance, the wizard Iarno Albrek, who was sent by the Lord’s Alliance to assess the situation in Phandalin. Sildar was also to assist Gundren in reopening the Wave Echo Cave Mine which had been lost for centuries until the Rockseeker brothers discovered it.

Events drug the group into a nest of trouble brewing in and around Phandalin. The missing wizard wasn’t really missing he disappeared himself and came back a wizard called Glasstaff. He was running a gang of thugs called the Redbrands who were attempting to take over the village of Phandalin. The group managed to route the gang and in return the town, now being run by Sildar after the previous mayor was found to be a stooge for the gang, gave the gang’s hideout, the ruined Tresendar Manor, to Greylic to establish a fledgling church.

Discovered: Chronicles of a Halfling Thief

After reading through the detailed records of my long lost relative, the famous kobold slayer Milo Needleknot I have come to the conclusion I am going to follow, seriously in his footsteps.  Milo was a daring swashbuckler who set sail and headed out to sea with his friends to find a new land to see and enjoy the rest of his life.  Maybe someday I will get to head out to sea and search for new land as well.  For now, Watersdeep and surrounding areas will be my playground.

He said in one log after fighting off a giant and stealing a flying castle he was done adventuring, but wanted to see other places.  Doesn't sound much like a retirement to me.

So my tale began in Watersdeep when we hear about a lady, Lady Velrosa Nandar and a goblin problem.  Listening to the dwarf he, spiritual and holy dwarf we would kill this lady in her keep.  Not fun.  And he's not funny, lemme tell you.

So, we start out and wind up at a castle with some god-awful bell ringing repeatedly.  Who could have guessed I had an affinity for killing goblins?!  With a flash of my blade two goblins dropped almost instantly.  The second could not even scream at the sight of his companion dropping.  After, I shot another goblin in the eye with an arrow at 300 yards.  Yeah, impressive!

After killing a host of goblins I was lingering near a battered house and I heard a faint cry.  I dug through the rubble and found a Tressym.  A winged cat named Rillix with a broken wing.  The ranger tried and succeeded in healing the wing, and Rillix seems to understand me, shame I can't say the same for me from him.  Speaking to the  guards in the Keep we find the lady Nandar is dead, her guards say she was one of the first, but there was a flying castle and giants took a "Knightstone" from the courtyard.  Let our adventure, mine and my new friend Rillix's begin.Rillix's begin.
